Nervous About Raising Support? Here’s Some Helpful
Hints
1. Make a list of friends, family, coworkers, social media friends, doctors, dentists, hairdressers, and others. Do not exclude anyone from your list. Aim to include 50 people (25 Non-FBC).
2. Write your personal support letter clearly outlining your trip and your needs. Share the details: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How. Please keep it to ONE page.
3.
The following MUST be
included at the bottom of your support letter.
Gifts to support mission trips sponsored by Frisco
Bible Church are tax-deductible. If the trip is overfunded, Frisco Bible will
use the excess funds for mission activities to be determined by FBC. In the
unlikely event that the mission trip is changed, canceled, or a participant is
unable to attend, Frisco Bible will use the collected funds for mission
activities to be determined by FBC. Additionally, contributions will be
allocated toward the team member's support-raising goals but will be used for
the entire mission trip team.
4. Mail and/or email your support letters to everyone on your list. Using the US postal system to deliver your letters is still the best way to evoke responses, especially for those who don’t use email or you haven’t heard from in a while. You can also use your personal social media too!
5. After a few weeks, send a follow-up letter to see if they need any additional information or have questions.
6. As soon as you get a donation, send a “Thank You” letter (email) in excitement.
7. Keep track of who donates and who doesn’t. You will receive a weekly email from the Mission’s Director about your support progress. This report usually goes out at the end of the day on Wednesdays.
8. When you return from the trip, send update or Thank You letters to all your donors, sharing details about the trip. Let them know what good was accomplished with their donation. Thank them for being part of your journey.
9. You are not required to buy gifts for all your donors. A nice postcard or a card from your country is a great alternative if you enjoy “gift giving”.
